George Hood's Last Long Plank Guinness World Record Event to Support Mental Health Across the Lifespan

The Braidwood Area Healthy Community Coalition (BAHCC) is partnering with 515 Fitness Inc. to host world-renowned George Hood in his last Guinness World Record long plank attempt on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 515 Fitness Inc., 11965 S. Aero Dr., Unit A,  Plainfield, IL 60585 in support of mental health across the lifespan.

Mental health influences how a person thinks, feels, and behaves in daily life. It also affects one’s ability to cope with stress, overcome challenges, build relationships, and recover from life’s setbacks and hardships. Good mental health is essential to a person’s physical health and well-being at every stage of life. Yet, millions of Americans suffer from mental health disorders.

The numbers are staggering!

* 7.7 million U.S. youth aged 6-17 have experienced a mental health disorder in 2016

* 48.6 million U.S. adults have experienced mental illness in 2018

* More than 1.7 milliion veterans have received treatment in VA mental health programs in 2018

Mental Health & Wellness Matter!

This is why George Hood’s last GWR plank attempt will benefit mental health care needs across the lifespan, with proceeds earmarked to expand resources and opportunities for mental health services.

George’s feats of endurance epitomize “mental toughness”, a skill that can be learned and harnessed through practice. Building mental toughness in individuals, whether they are men, women, children, students, parents, seniors, athletes, professionals, military or others, prepares them to handle everyday stressors and challenges.

On February 15, members of the community will be invited to test their mental toughness alongside George to bring together the entire community, nation, and even the world to stand up against the stigma surrounding mental health and to let individuals know they are not alone.

You are encouraged to support mental health across the lifespan through opportunities for sponsorships, donations, and/or pledges indicated in the attachments
